What to Expect

During your visit to our office you can expect to be greeted and treated like family. Our focus will be to engage each and every child in a supportive, caring manner, making their visit fun and memorable. Initially, you and your child will be greeted and escorted into one of our treatment rooms where a review or update the child’s medical history will be completed. Particular attention will be paid to the child’s interest and/or hobbies indicated by you on our welcoming form. During a routine six month dental recare visit, a thorough head and neck examination will be performed, as well as a comprehensive evaluation of the teeth and gums. Digital radiographs (X-rays) will be taken only if needed. Your child will be introduced to the equipment that will be used in words that they will understand. Terms like “Mr. Thirsty” and the “Tickle Toothbrush” will be introduced to describe the suction straw and prophy brush. The “Tell-Show-Do” approach will allow your child to become familiar with the proceedings in a fun, child-friendly way. If the child is comfortable, a dental cleaning and fluoride application will be completed. We are looking forward to meeting you and your child and developing a relationship that will grow with your child!

The hygienist or dentist will review home care and diet, and instruct the child in the proper technique of brushing and flossing. Recommendations may be made if certain oral hygiene aids (rinses, electric toothbrushes, flossing devices, etc.) will benefit your child.

If your child requires additional work, you can expect to have that work completed in a timely fashion. Depending on a family’s flexibility, the child’s next visit can be scheduled within the upcoming weeks. If a filling visit is needed, you can be assured that your child will receive the best of care. Our philosophy is to explain the procedure and instruments to him/her in words that they will understand, without evoking anxiety. Once comfortable, the procedure will be completed in a precise, effective manner, delivering the utmost of care to you child while the work is being completed.

Our goal is to fulfill all your expectations. We strive each and every day to maintain our high level of care, and to serve you and care for your child to the highest of standards. We are looking forward to meeting you and your child, and developing a relationship that will grow with your child each and every year!
